I get it—furniture shopping can be information overload. Like, WDYM this couch is such-and-such weight and so-and-so dimensions and comes in four boxes? How in the world does that help me figure out whether it's worth spending two entire paychecks?! To help you in your search, here's a little guide to deciphering all of the couch jargon you might encounter while shopping.
Loveseats: If you're looking for a smaller couch that has two seats, you'll want to buy a loveseat. Note that these couches may seat more than two people if the seat cushions are wider!
Sectionals: Composed of multiple ~sections~, these couches are usually bigger and are typically sold in L- or U-shaped configurations. Pit sectionals are sectionals that come with an additional ottoman piece that fits in the center "pit" of the couch to create a bed-like surface.
High-back vs. low-back couches: If you love sleek, modern couches with a lower profile, a low-back couch will be your best friend. Alternatively, high-back couches offer more back and shoulder support as well as a more traditional look.
Deep seats vs. shallow seats: Basically, a shallow seat is good for sitting (you're more likely to be able to keep your feet on the floor which supports your back) and a deep seat is good for curling up. It just depends on what you're looking for!
