7Cruel Intentions (1999)

Cruel Intentions is a modern retelling of the novel Dangerous Liaisons, and features Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillipe as two scheming step-siblings Sebastian and Katherine who plan a cruel bet to see if Sebastian can seduce student Annette. If Katherine wins, she gets his car. If Sebastian wins, Katherine will sleep with him, too.

When watching Brideshead Revisited, you'll be surprised to find a number of parallels to Fennell's Saltburn. In the 2008 film, based on the novel by Evelyn Waugh, Charles is a middle class artist studying at Oxford when he befriends the wealthy Lord Sebastian Flyte. Over the summer Sebastian takes Charles home with him where he becomes entranced by the family, their grand home and most all Sebastian's sister. As time goes on Charles' relationship with the family becomes more complicated and intertwined.
