After host Jesse Palmer reveals that the show will be sending the duo on a trip to Italy for a romantic vacation, the Golden Bachelor excitedly responds by saying, “We can use that as our honeymoon trip because we are going to get married. We’re going to do it as quickly as we can because, at our age, we don’t have a lot of time to waste. As quickly as we can put together a wedding plan, we’re getting married.”

These two attend a screening of The Golden Bachelor and a subsequent panel in New York City, and, yes, Theresa’s absolutely stunning vintage-inspired Neil Lane engagement ring is on full display.
During the moderated For Your Consideration panel, the couple speaks about their time on the dating series, and Theresa opens up about her experience watching the show back with her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandsons. (Btw, she also admits that after watching an episode once, she would then go on to rewatch it alone, and understandably, that’s when certain scenes would hurt.)
“Gerry and I were talking on the phone all the time, so he prepared me for things, but there’s some things he just couldn’t prepare me for. There’s some things I had to just...I cried over a few things,” she says.

But despite how “horrified” she was to relive the experience, she maintains that she was always rooting for Gerry to find love: “I really wanted Gerry to find the right person, and I only wanted it to be me if it was right for it to be me. I learned that I could do that and allow that process to happen, and I think that’s important too when going into a process like this. It’s difficult, but necessary.”
Gerry, for his part, explains, “At the end of the day, when you know you have to send some of those women home, it was just soul-crushing.” “You form good friendships, good relationships, good connections, and you work really hard to do it because you want to be open to every possibility that’s in front of you.”

The pair also has a classic Jersey meal at a diner. “A diner date is part of our story…so, I had to bring Gerry to a New Jersey diner. (we are kinda famous for them here!),” Theresa writes before diving in on their *exact* orders. “Eggs, bacon and pancakes (for him), a spinach, feta cheese omelet and a fruit cup for me...so much fun meeting new and old friends!”
Theresa then shares a separate post about a stunning Italian meal she had with Gerry at Trama’s Trattoria. “Making up for the time we couldn’t be together in public by eating out as much as possible! just had an incredible meal at Trama’s, where the chef pampered us with delicious artichoke salad, burrata salad, 🤌🏻 haha (I am 100% Italian you know), fluke francese, rigatoni, and my favorite, and now Gerry’s favorite, tiramisu served affogato style. had such a wonderful date night with my husband! Trama’s may be the reason Gerry stays in New Jersey. thank you Trama’s!!” she gushes.

Theresa reveals that she and Gerry are planning their honeymoon, which will be held in Italy (!!!). “Having so much fun planning and dreaming about our honeymoon in May to Italy…flying into Rome, spending a few days in Tuscany and then heading down to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast,” Theresa writes. “I’ve been to Italy twice, once when I was 18, and again to visit my daughter when she studied abroad there. I can’t wait to experience it with Gerry!”

According to reports from TMZ, Gerry and Theresa still don’t appear to be living together, and the inaugural Golden Bachelor is currently still residing at his lake house in Indiana, while his wife remains in her native New Jersey.
Per the outlet, “We’re told there are a few reasons why they haven’t taken the leap to live together just yet...and a lot of it has to do with the fact that moving is a complete and total hassle. For starters...we’re told they’ve each got their own established homes in their respective states and moving everything into one pad would be time-consuming.”
Additionally, Theresa is reportedly continuing to work as a senior compliance officer at a financial advisory office in New Jersey—a job she would likely have to give up should she make the decision to move.
TMZ also notes that a good “middle ground” for the two may be Charleston, South Carolina, “especially with Theresa’s son and grandchildren in that area. That said, they’re still undecided.”

Gerry and Theresa announce they're getting divorced. “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations,” Gerry says on GMA during an appearance alongside the Golden Bachelor winner. “We’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and—and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to—dissolve our marriage.”

P.S. That same day, Gerry submits a petition to Pike Circuit Court in Indiana to officially dissolve the marriage, per People. Oh, and according to US Weekly, the reason for the former couple's split is an “irretrievable breakdown” of their marriage.

Gerry's daughter Angie reflects on the backlash her family has received following her father’s divorce.
“It’s no surprise the news of my Dad and Theresa choosing to split has sparked a range of emotions and opinions. I love how invested people were in the show, what an experience to have you along for the ride!” she begins. “What has been disheartening is the level of rage and cruelty that our family has been met with. Per People, Gerry and Theresa officially reached a settlement in their divorce on June 4. And according to additional reporting and documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the two “lived together as husband and wife until April 12, 2024, at which time certain irreconcilable differences heretofore arisen between the parties culminated in their separation.”
