Cruel Summer on Prime Video had everyone talking when it first landed on our screens two years ago. The teen, psychological thriller told the story of a popular schoolgirl who goes missing and there were twists, turns and lots of drama. But, season two switches things up completely.
This season, we're back with a new cast and plot as we're transported to the 90s to follow a group of high school friends whose lives are turned upside down by a murder. With the finale airing in the US and the second season coming to Amazon Prime Video in the UK on 11th August (so soon!), here is the ending of Cruel Summer season two explained.

Cruel Summer season two ending explained
In the final episode of season two, titled 'Endgame', we find out the truth about Luke’s death. We learn that Luke paged his brother, Brent, to come meet him at the dock, but things got ugly when the brothers get in a fight about the circumstances of their mother's death.
During the fight, Brent shoves Luke who then hits his head on a railing and falls into the water. While Brent quickly dives in to try and save his brother, it's too dark to find him and Brent goes home to confess what happened to his father, Steve. His father drives to the scene of the crime, but ultimately decides not to do anything in order to save his only surviving family member, Brent.
But, after Luke fell into the water and seemingly disappeared, Luke washed up on the beach and was still alive. Then, Isabella, who had gone looking for Luke, found him and instead of getting help, she chose to get rid of him for good and used her heel to press Luke's face into the water, causing him to drown.
Brent turned himself in to the police and Isabella fled the country. But, at the end of the episode, Megan watches a tape from the dock of Isabella drowning Luke and the season ends of a cliffhanger of what Megan will do with this information.
