The Little Women trailer dropped, giving fans a taste of what was to come in the Greta Gerwig–directed adaptation of the beloved story.
The director dished about Timothée and Saoirse during an interview with People, saying, “There is some true pairing between them that feels like what’s in the tradition of great cinematic pairings.” She added, “They have an energy between them that is like they become a bonfire when they’re together. They’re both so alive and they’re both so talented and so smart and so young. When you put them together, it’s like combustion.”

Saoirse and Timmy graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly and talked about their experience reuniting for Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, where they played Laurie and Jo, respectively. “He keeps me on my toes—I’m never quite sure what he’s going to do next,” Saoirse said of working with Timmy. “That only progressed more and grew more. It helped that we do have a very natural rapport with each other….These two characters physically need to be very comfortable with one another. They’re literally intertwined for half the film.”
The Call Me by Your Name star added, “In the least clichéd way possible, it really doesn’t feel like [I’m] acting sometimes [with her].”
“Everyone breaks down and becomes a little kid. This job is so trippy in that regard—you want to be serious, you want to be professional, and then it’s almost best when you’re able to be 12 years old. When it’s someone you’re actually friends with, it makes it easier,” he continued, when Saoirse playfully retorted, “We’re not friends!”

While promoting her movie Ammonite in an interview with Dazed, Saoirse gushed about her connection with Timmy. “I always knew he was very special. And he was very magnetic as an actor. We’ve always just felt very comfortable with one another,” she said. “We’re very different in the way we work and the kind of performances that we give, and that really excites me–how different we both are.”
She continued, “He’s someone who I want to continue to work with because I’m just quite interested to see how it goes. As we get older and when we have more and more experience, what it’s like when we come back together.”

During an interview with People, Saoirse dished that she was tapped to be in Barbie. “I was supposed to do a cameo because I live in London and they were [filming] there,” she said. “There was a whole character I was going to play—another Barbie. July 10, 2023
Barbie is released in theaters, and during an interview with CinemaBlend, Greta revealed that Saoirse and Timothée were supposed to have cameos in the film. “Well, it was always going to have to be like a sort of smaller thing because she was actually producing at the time, which I am so proud of her for,” Greta said. “And of course, it’s brilliant. But it was going to be a specialty cameo. I was also going to do a specialty cameo with Timmy. Both of them couldn’t do it and I was so annoyed. But I love them so much. But it felt like doing something without my children. I mean, I’m not their mom, but I sort of feel like their mom.”
December 14, 2023
During an interview on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Timmy dished about his and Saoirse’s potential Barbie cameos. “There was an idea for Saoirse Ronan and I to do a cameo in it,” he said. “I don’t know what the cameo would’ve been. I think it would’ve been one of the rejected Kens or Barbies—not Allan.” He continued, “Maybe there was a reject French one along the way. I don’t know what that would’ve been.”
Aaand that’s all for now on these two. Personally, I’m looking for a petition to get Timmy and Saoirse in a rom-com together. @ Greta Gerwig, I know you can make it happen!
