Hello, fellow people judging the 2024 Met Gala red carpet from the comfort of your couch whilst surrounded by snacks: We have some bummer news. It doesn’t look like Ice Spice walked the red carpet this year despite speculation that she’d be in attendance.

Tonight would have marked Ice Spice’s second time at the Met Gala—last year, she wore a white gown with sheer cutouts by Balmain, accessorized with a point-and-shoot camera:

She told Vogue on the red carpet re: this look, “I’m just so grateful. I’m so happy to be here. I was really nervous approaching the carpet, and once I heard everyone screaming, I felt better.”

So, why’d Ice Spice skip this year’s event? Unclear—and she hasn’t been on social media for a few days, so TBD on what she’s been up to instead. But we do know she’s booked and busy! Ice Spice is set to make her acting debut (!!!!) in Spike Lee’s upcoming reinterpretation of High and Low—a 1963 crime thriller by Akira Kurosawa. The movie also stars Denzel Washington and is a collab between Apple Original Films and A24, sooooo get excited.

On top of that, Ice Spice’s debut studio album will be out this year—which she confirmed on Today, saying, “Yes, there’s going to be an album this year,” adding that it would be out “soon” and that “It’s called Y2K.”
